NEW from DINGAROO PRESS:  Grief Workbooks for Children

I Was NOT "Just" A Dog!

and / or  I Was NOT "Just" A Cat!

The Special Friendship of Kids and Pets
and How To Grieve When They Are Gone

by Carolyn Cunningham, PhD and Kristen Annastasia, MA

I Was Not “Just” A Dog is a Pet-Grief Workbook created by psychotherapists for children ages 6 and up. We recommend this material be processed as a family unit, simply to strengthen bonds of secure attachment and offer grieving individuals maximum support. Yet it can also be used by a child on his or her own, with siblings, or friends.

Grief is an inescapable part of life, and a natural process of healing after a loss of any kind. Children who master this process early, will go on to enjoy more satisfying relationships with deeper connections, have strengthened resilience to difficulties, and heal more quickly after being hurt.

It is essential that adults in every child’s life understand that when you support a child’s grief over a loved pet (even an insect or goldfish), you are giving a young person the greatest gift available in human experience: the ability to endure emotional pain, process it effectively, and emerge from it with the confidence to reach out and build new connections in all future relationships.

Sharing this book with a child is an act of love, and we are honored by the opportunity to touch the life of a young person you care about.

Truth Over 24:

An Experiment in Enhancing Creativity

by Strange Bela

Truth Over 24: An Experiment in Enhancing Creativity is Strange Bela's (aka Joe Perry) first book, detailing his original theoretical framework about the craft of cinema, and how to maximize your creativity as a cultural artist in any medium. Includes a measurable assessment of on-screen success, a revealing look at your own 24-hour day, and challenging real-world exercises that will push you into a new creative stratosphere.

As he completed the post-production of his new feature film, In Medias Res
, Joe gained new insight into an actor's performance, viewable second-to-second in the editing room. Here, he presents  a new method for analyzing the visual film work of actors, directors, editors, and more.

EXERPT:
It has been my experience as a Director that in the midst of an actor’s work, time is a gift, 24 frames a second. What an actor does to prepare for that 24 is entirely up to them, but it should always include the knowledge that the effective use of their preparation into a ‘result’ is caught within the 24 frames in the second.  Yet the ‘result’ is a representation of how an actor is using their time before the 24. In other words, “How many of your own personal frames (the frames you share with the universe on a day to day basis where you get to be your very own special person) are you sacrificing in order to strengthen the frames for the character within the 24. Or more importantly, “How many frames of your OWN must you give up in order to allow the character full access to its own 24 frames a second.”

...In this connection, the success behind a film actor's portrayal of his/her character depends on whether the audience is moved by the value of meaning  whose availability is determined by what proportion of truth an actor occupies within a 24-frame second. And this idea can be expressed in the simple equation: m = t / 24.

In Medias Res
is Joe Perry's
second feature film, inspired by the epic poem “Paradise Lost” by John Milton, originally published in 1667.  As the film nears completion of the director's cut, we are releasing a published book with images and information about the film, which will be used to market the film at festivals and to the studios. Dingaroo Press is proud to have contributed to the film production and design of two feature films and two short films by award-winning director Joe Perry.

This film is an epic achievement, made possible by the blood, sweat, and creative energies of many people working in collaboration to create an exquisitely beautiful masterpiece of indie film storytelling.

Everlasting Coloring e-Books (Series)

Our
series of Everlasting Coloring eBooks bring coloring into the 21st Century with innovative features. Published as downloadable PDF files, one purchase lasts a lifetime. From your home computer, open up to the pre-bookmarked visual contents, and view the page designs by thumbnail. Each thumbnail is hyperlinked to the printable page... simply click on the image you want, and you will be transported directly to the full page. Then, "print this page" in your printer dialog box, and you have a design ready to color.

Everlasting Easy!

When we first developed this idea, we were concerned that it might be too complicated for younger children to use. BOY, WERE WE WRONG! We tested our product with a 4-year old, who bumped the adult off the chair and began immediately navigating to the pages he wanted to color! We were stunned! The only supervision our test-child needed was help with the "print this page" feature in the print dialog box. Without that setting, it will print the entire book. We plan to do more testing of this nature, and capture it on video.

Everlasting choices for the whole family!

Why is this innovative? First and foremost, it changes the experience of choosing a page to color. This format allows parents, teachers, and child-care providers to have an endless supply of clean, color-able pages. No more fights between children who want to color the same image. No more tears because a toddler has scribbled all over the pages a child wanted to color.

Everlasting creativity that grows with your ability!

Secondly, the format enhances creativity by allowing children and adults to experiment. Color the same image in different ways. Try textured papers, or print on a variety of colored papers to cut, overlap, and sculpt a 3-D image. You can also use your printer dialog box to re-size images. Print smaller to make notecards, print larger to make posters or to allow a group to collaborate on a single image. Print on a "lighter" setting to easily color over some lines and enhance others, or change it up by adding your own lines to make it one-of-a-kind. Pages can also be imported into digital art software programs, opening up a whole new world.

Everlasting Coloring eBooks... Low Cost, Sustainable Fun!

Finally, this is also a completely green product, and consumes only the paper you actually use. If you family or classroom has a favorite group of designs, those will be the ones printed for use. By purchasing a digital file, you avoid using resources such as binding glues (bound book pages are harder to color) and the loss of printed pages not yet colored that can get ripped, spilled on, or scribbled on. Because digital products require no production, packaging, or shipping, they reduce the carbon footprint because they do not add costs for fuel, road maintenance, and shipping infrastructure. For this reason, downloadable digital files are sales tax exempt.
